Twist the dibber, twist the dibber
Make a hole, make a hole
Push it deeper, push it deeper
Plant the bulb
Roots point down
Shoots stick up
Hole full of earth
Water and hope
Brave table, calm table
Sit there and spin
Eat your blues, blow your ears
Never, ever sell crabs your gin
Sometimes it's good to write utter nonsense, to see where the words and imagery take you... It might be enough to leave it at that: a word-salad poem.
Or, use what you see and keep going to make a longer story - nonsense or otherwise!
In a creative writing zoom this week I wrote a Reverse Snowball. The prompt was 'on the beach'. It's funny how random images come... randomly!
So here's what happened when I closed my eyes and let the pen take over
Waves wash the footprints away
Shingle shifts and sand sinks
Lapping, cleansing, shimmering, sparkling
Calm - turbulent - calm
Back forth
Waves
